METAMORA — Morris A. Scheirer, 85, Metamora, passed away at 2:58 p.m. Tuesday (June 6, 2006) at his residence. He was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Metamora, a son of William J. and Anna Waldschmidt Scheirer. He married Mary Ellen Knoblauch on Nov. 28, 1946, in Washburn. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Allan (Peg) Scheirer, Lafayette Ind.; Paul (Cathy) Scheirer and Kenneth Scheirer, both of Metamora; and Victor (Antoinette) Scheirer, Washington; seven daughters, Rose Ann (Dan) Toohill, Heyworth; Marcia (Paul) Noe, Yates City; Alice (Lin) White, Metamora; Jane (Ken) Schneider, Rushville; Valerie (Jim) Wallenfang, Peoria Heights; Evelyn (Randy) Kenyon, East Peoria; and Carol (Eric) Neal, Metamora; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William (Luella) Scheirer and Milton (Bernice) Scheirer, both of Metamora; and four sisters, Anna May Noe and Theresa (Larry) Miller, both of Washington; Sister Anna Marie Scheirer, Peoria; and Wilma (Norbert) Adams, Metamora.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Joe Kenyon; one brother; and two sisters.

Morris was a lifelong farmer in the Metamora area. He worked at McBride & Shoff and at Caterpillar for 15 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Metamora.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at his church, with Father John Verrier officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel, with recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Emergency 116 and or his church.
