FAIRBURY - Neva Arends, 94, Fairbury, formerly of Secor, died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday (June 26, 2007) at Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac. She was born June 28, 1912, in rural Secor, a daughter of Daniel and Mary Wingstirn Hexamer. She married Carl C. Arends on March 4, 1934, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Benson. He preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1995.
Surviving are one daughter, Debbie (Clete) Watson, Fairbury; and two granddaughters, Tiffani Watson, Fairbury, and Tara Watson, El Paso. Also surviving are one brother-in-law, Leo Arends, Metamora; one sister-in-law, Vera Mae Arends, Lacon; and two special nieces, Sharon Bock, Galesburg, and Lynda Bisanz, St. Paul, Minn. Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
Neva was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Benson. She was a homemaker and a former postal employee at the Secor Post Office.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, rural Benson. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Bill Hecht will officiate. Burial will follow in Secor Cemetery, Secor.
