BLOOMINGTON - Ralph D. Doage, 89, of 810 E. Walnut St., Bloomington, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 14, 2006) at Heritage Manor/Bloomington, Bloomington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington. His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the memorial home. The Rev. Vaughn Hoffman will officiate. Entombment will be at Park Hill Mausoleum, Bloomington, with military rites accorded by the Carl Martin Post 635.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Ralph was born April 21, 1916, in Bloomington, the son of Earl E. Doage and Mae Brown Doage, He married Erma Jean Cartright on Dec. 15, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo. She died May 18, 1991.
Ralph is survived by brother, Earl Doage Jr., Bloomington; five sisters, Katherine Turner, Denver, Colo.; Thelma Brown, Decatur; and LaVerne Smith, Norma Nathan and Mable Doage, all of Bloomington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.
Ralph retired as a machinist from Eureka Williams Co. after 41 years of service and was a member of Local 1000.
He is an Army veteran of World War II. He was a charter member of Team Ford Racing, American Legion and VFW.
He enjoyed racing and never missed an Indianapolis 500 race since 1925 and was named after a famous race driver, Ralph DePalmer.
