BLOOMINGTON — Ralph W. Schroeder, 73, of 1101½ S. Hinshaw St., Bloomington, died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 24, 2006) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Ralph was born Jan. 21, 1933, in Ottumwa, Iowa, a son of William Ott and Agnes Parsons Schroeder. They preceded him in death. He married Ruth Arlene Carter in 1968. She died in January of 1993 in Bloomington.
Surviving are his children, Patrick Schroeder, Bloomington; Nancy (Arthur) Lewis, Ozark, Ala.; Gary (Candy) Kidwell, Tennesse; Carrol Peterson, Alabama; Buddy Kidwell, Michigan; Kathy (Butch) Trombley, Mich.; and Robert Kidwell, Bloomington; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Rhoda Stephanie, Centerville, Iowa.
Ralph was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Schroeder; one sister, Doris Smith; and one daughter, Betty Kidwell.
Ralph is a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he retired after 25 years of service. He then worked for Illinois State University in food services.
He is a member of VFW Post 454, Bloomington; American Legion; and the Eagles Lodge.
