BLOOMINGTON - Raymond L. McKean, 68, of Bloomington, died at 6:24 a.m. Thursday (April 20, 2006) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Vernon Oakley officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded with interment of ashes at the McLean Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the memorial home.
Raymond was born Nov. 17, 1937, in Mill Shoals, a son of the late Cecil D. McKean and Mamie Berry McKean. He grew up on the family farm north of Decatur and came to Bloomington in 1960, where he has been a resident since.
Raymond was an avid outdoorsman, going fishing or on hunting trips whenever the opportunity to do so afforded itself. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Machinists Lodge No. 1000 of the International Association of Machinists.
Raymond had been employed by the Eureka Co. for 31 years, retiring in 1996. He married Marlene McKean Sept. 18, 1971, in Springfield. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by two sons, Michael McKean of Bloomington and Jason McKean of Bloomington; daughter, Cecelia Curtis of Indiana; his mother, Mamie McKean of Decatur; a brother, Cecil E. McKean of Florida; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil; and a sister, Dorothy Rutherford.
