Richard T. “Dick” Davis, 83, of Minonk, passed away Friday (June 8, 2018) at his home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 21 at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk. Private family inurnment with military rites will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Minonk. A celebration of life will be July 21 at a place to be determined. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Hospice.
Dick was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Toluca, a son of Milton Elmo and Mary Rita Tracey Davis. He married Emilie Le Boeuf in 1957. He later married Maxine Johnson on Nov. 17, 1978. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2010.
Surviving are his children, Luranne “Onnie” (Steve) Beck, Minonk; Kyle (Sue) Davis, Lexington; and Carey (Angie) Davis, Gibson City; stepson, Richard (Stevie) Meredith, Champaign; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his first wife, Emilie Le Boeuf, Dunedin, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary Davis; and a sister, Donna Cumming.
Dick had served in the Army, stationed in Germany.
He enjoyed working with his father and uncle at Davis Brothers Excavating in Minonk, where he became a co-owner. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 649 and was a longtime contractor for Nicor Gas for over 30 years.
