DWIGHT - Richard L. Francis, 68, of 307 Eisenhower Drive, Dwight, died at 5:40 a.m. Sunday (April 23, 2006) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight, with the Rev. William Leppin officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the memorial home. Cremation rites were accorded.
Richard was born Sept. 7, 1937, in Annapolis, Ill., to Warden J. and Edrie Nash Francis. He married Joan Faught on Aug. 5, 1956 in Annapolis. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Joene (Dwight) Drechsel, Independence, Mo., and Lynn (Randy) Hodge, Odell; one son, Scott A.(Susan) Francis, Odell; two sisters, Velma Richards and Norita (Don) Jacobs, both of Robinson; one brother, Joel (Sharon) Francis, Dwight; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Henley, Chris Drechsel, Elizabeth and Jason Francis, and Ashley, Brandon and Kyle Hodge; and one great-grandchild, Austin Henley.
His parents preceded him in death.
He was an inspection analyst for Caterpillar in Joliet, retiring after 35½ years of service. He was a car porter for Rubs Chevy in Dwight.
He graduated from Robinson High School in 1955. Richard was very proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice.
