LEXINGTON - Richard D. Swartz, 62, Lexington, died at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 22, 2006) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Calvert & Musselman Funeral Home, Lexington, with Pastor Bill Brown officiating. A Masonic service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Home in Sullivan or the Lexington Ambulance Service.
He was born Feb. 26, 1943, in Normal, the son of Amos Warder and Pearl Lorraine Meade Swartz. He married Karen G. Pampel on March 21, 1964, in Lexington. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Timothy (Lisa) Swartz, Palmyra, Penn., and Aaron (Sally) Swartz, Janesville, Wis.; one daughter, Paige (Bill) Glass, Somerville, Tenn.; a loving mother-in-law, Helen Pampel, Lexington; two brothers, Russell (Lana) Swartz, Normal and Roger (Linda) Swartz, Bloomington; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Swartz, Lexington; eight grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Swartz.
He worked at Firestone for more than 35 years, where he was a supervisor.
He was a member of the El Paso Masonic Lodge 246 A.F.&A.M. in El Paso, Bloomington Consistory Scottish Rites Bodies and was a past master of Lexington Masonic Lodge 482 A.F.&A.M., now part of the El Paso Masonic Lodge.
