MORTON — Robert L. “Bob” Belsley, 90, of 400 E. Delwood St., Morton, died at 3:10 a.m. Saturday (April 30, 2011) at Apostolic Christian Restmor, Morton.
He was born Nov. 22, 1920, in Morton, to Joseph C. and Emma Wuthrich Belsley. He married Mabel I. Martin on Aug. 15, 1948, in Roanoke. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Fred Endress; five brothers; and two sisters.
Surviving are his two sons, Roger (Marty) Belsley of Champaign and Randy (Joan) Belsley of Morton; two daughters, Joanni Endress of Morton and Joyce (Ted) Hirstein of Morton; seven grandchildren, Dan (Alicia) Endress, Emily (Matt) Koehl, Laura Belsley, Nicole Belsley, Marcus Belsley, Jill Belsley (fiancé Brad McClain) and Troy Hirstein; and two great-grandchildren, Levi and Luke Koehl.
He served as a medic in the Army during World War II.
Bob worked for 60 years at Otto Baum Company, Inc. in Morton, retiring as an operating engineer in 1998, and he enjoyed spending many winters with his family and friends as a snowbird in Florida.
He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Morton, where his service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Morton, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Morton Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
