Robert Bishop, 89, of Bloomington, passed away at 11:03 p.m. Friday (Dec. 15, 2017) at OSF HealthCare Richard L. Owens Hospice House, Peoria.
Services will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 56. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home, Bloomington, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert was born March 25, 1928, in Effingham, a son to George and Ethel Meeks Bishop.
Surviving are his children, Barbra (Matthew) Oldenburg, Robert (Terry) Bishop, Danny Bishop and Brad (Terri) Bahan; sister, Ruth Brady; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Bishop; two brothers and six sisters.

Robert proudly served in the U.S. Navy from April 1946 to February 1948. Later, he was a self-employed contractor.
He enjoyed playing cards and pool with family and friends. His favorite place to be was outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
The family would like to thank the many nurses and doctors that took such great care of Robert at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, and OSF Richard Owens Hospice House, Peoria.
