WENONA - Robert E. Keenan, 84, formerly of Wenona and Toluca, died at 3:02 p.m. Sunday (April 2, 2006) at Maple Lawn Home in Eureka, where he had been a resident for 10 months.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church, Wenona, with the Rev. Luke Poczworowski officiating. Burial will be at St. Ann's Cemetery in Toluca. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Hurst Funeral Home, Wenona. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Keenan was born in Wenona on Jan. 25, 1922, a son of Bert and Anna Sheridan Keenan. He married Lorene I. Stringer on Oct. 19, 1946, at St. Bernard's Church, Peoria.
He farmed in the Wenona area and later worked for Beatrice foods in Wenona until his retirement. He served in Africa and Italy with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Wenona American Legion and Streator Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene; two sons, Robert (Patty) Keenan, East Peoria, and Bill (Georgianne) Keenan, Ottawa; seven daughters, Jerri Cook and Mary (Jeff) Fisher, both of Washington; Sister Janice Keenan OSF, Champaign; Kathleen (Rick) Lutz, Wenona; Susan (Mark) Wudtke, Toluca; Ann (Jerry) Sales, Germantown Hills; and Clare (Robert) Ripp, Peoria; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alberta (Ted) Hahn, Toluca.
He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be Rick Lutz, Jerry Sales, Jeff Fisher, Mark Wudtke, Bob Ripp and Michael Cook.
