BLOOMINGTON - Robert J. Poe, 72, of Bloomington died at 7:20 p.m. Friday (June 22, 2007) at Heritage Manor, Bloomington.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Cremation rites will be accorded
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 8, 1935, in Pocahontas, Ark., a son of Dewitt and Cledith (Lutman) Poe. -;He married Shirley Williams on Nov. 7, 1953, in Hernando, Miss. She survives.
Other survivors include three children, Deborah (Daniel) Mulvihill of Indianapolis, Robert (Karen) Poe Jr. of Mackinaw and Stephen Poe of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Robert Sieg III, Rochelle Poe, Chelsea Poe and Carman Poe; one great?grandchild, Robert Daniel Sieg; and one sister, Maude Victoria Maynard of East Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters and one great-grandchild.
He was a paratrooper in the 101st Air Borne Division Screaming Eagles.
Robert was a mobile home dealer for many years, owned and operated Bob's UI Grocery Store for many years and was a maintenance manager for Jumers Château before retiring in 1992.
