MINIER - Robert P. Brenneman. 75, of Minier died at 12:50 p.m. Friday (Feb. 17, 2006) at Hopedale Nursing Home.

He was born April 7, 1930, in Peoria to Morris and Velma Fasse Brenneman. They preceded him in death.

Robert married Carleen Freitag on Aug. 12, 1951, in Stanford. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Burt (Debbie) Brenneman, Minier; two daughters, Lori (Randy) Rogers, Minier, and Teri (Greg) Sumner, Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Nick Brenneman, Grant and Courtney Rogers, and Jonathan Sumner; and one sister, Kay Schwarting, Mackinaw.

Robert graduated from Illinois State University in 1954, where he played basketball for four years. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Robert farmed for over 50 years on the farm his family has owned since 1884. His memberships include St. John's United Church of Christ, Minier, Minier Masonic Lodge No. 641 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Peoria, the Mohammed Temple Shrine No. 770 in Peoria, Bloomington Elks Lodge No. 281, Tazewell County Farm Bureau and past director of the Stanford Bank. Robert served on the Minier Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's United Church of Christ, Minier. The Rev. Paul Thompson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. Cremation rites will be accorded. Private burial of ashes will be at Minier Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.
