NORMAL — Robert Lee Raber, 79, of Normal, passed away at 7:41 a.m. Tuesday (April 11, 2017) at Evergreen Place, Normal.
Robert’s service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Following the service, burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Bloomington, with military rites conducted by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Robert was born April 11, 1938, in Browns, the son of Carl and Burl Raber.
He is survived by his son, Randy Raber, Normal; Randy’s mom, Beverly Raber, Normal; and one sister of Florida.
Robert was preceded by his parents and one son, Robin Raber.
Robert served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1960. He worked as a lending officer for National Bank of Bloomington and First National Bank of Normal for 18 years and also worked as a district sales manager for The Pantagraph for 12 years.
Robert was an avid reader, golfer and bird watcher. He enjoyed spending time with his son Randy cataloging the different birds in the area. He was also a St. Louis Cardinals fan, Chicago Bears and Bulls fan.
