SAUNEMIN Rodney Shubert, 49, Saunemin, died at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 15, 2006) at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Saunemin United Methodist Church, Saunemin, with the Rev. Pinckney Love officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyslope Cemetery, Saunemin. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac.
The family suggests memorials be made to Gift of Hope.
Rodney was born Sept. 25, 1956, at Pontiac, a son of Donald and Marjorie DeGroodt Shubert.
He is survived by his parents of Saunemin; three daughters, Shawna Jones, California; Deidra “Dee” Galimore, Pontiac; and Tonia Day, Maryland; one stepdaughter, Lisa Brown, Pontiac; two stepgranddaughters, Felicia and Kaylee Brown; one sister, Colette (Greg) Gourley, Normal; and one brother, Gregory (Rebecca) Shubert, Fort Collins, Colo.
He was preceded in death by one son, William “BJ” Shubert.
Rodney was educated at Saunemin Grade School and was a 1974 graduate of Saunemin High School. He attended Illinois Wesleyan University in Normal. He was employed at RR Donnelly’s in Dwight and Pontiac for over 20 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Saunemin United Methodist Church.
