NORMAL — Rosamond C. Robbins, 99, passed away peacefully March 23, 2017, at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal.

She was born Dec. 28, 1917, in Cardin, Okla., daughter of Chauncey and Rose Whitsell. Rose married Henry M. “Hank” Robbins Jr. on June 2, 1934, in Saginaw, Mich. Their attendants were actor Harry Carey and his wife Olivia. Rose and Hank were circus performers in their early years of marriage. Rose worked at S.S. Kresge in Bloomington, and was manager of The Cage restaurant for Illinois State University, Normal, retiring from there after nearly 30 years.

Surviving are children, Harry Robbins, Curtiss Robbins and Nancy Raney, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Hank; three daughters, Virginia, Connie and Jean; and two sons, Frank and Hank Jr.

Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. April 25 at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington.
