PAXTON — Ruth Ann Johnson, 89, of Paxton, passed away on Sunday (Jan. 11, 2015) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Ruth was born June 21, 1925, near Guthrie, the daughter of Eilt and Matilda Schutte Johnson. They preceded her in death, in addition to two brothers; one sister; and three sons, Rodney, Ronald and Darrell Johnson. She married Wesley Arnold Johnson on Jan. 24, 1953, at the home farm south of Paxton and he preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2012.
She is survived by one son, Wayne Johnson, Paxton, and many nieces and nephews.
She was baptized in the Lutheran church in Sibley and confirmed at Mission Covenant Church in Paxton. She attended Gallagher Business School in Kankakee and worked at Romy-Hammel Tractor Sales in Kankakee and Eastern Illinois Power in Paxton. She lived west of Buckley until 1962, lived at the Johnson home place south of Paxton until 1979 and then moved to Wesley’s farm until her passing.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Knapp-Miller Funeral Home in Paxton. The Rev. Craig Pinley will officiate. Burial will be at Glen Cemetery in Paxton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Knapp-Miller Funeral Home in Paxton.
Memorials may be made to Evangelical Covenant Church, American Heart Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
