Scot R. Hardesty, 58, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., formerly of Bloomington, passed away at 1:22 p.m. Friday (Dec. 8, 2017) at his home.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. The Rev. Gayle Cyrulik Jr. will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard at the memorial home. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the memorial home.
The family suggests memorials be made to Lewis & Faye Manderson Cancer Center, Tuscaloosa, Ala., or the Northwest Georgia Oncology, Marietta, Ga.
Scot was born Oct. 10, 1959, in Bloomington, the son of George R. and Clara M. Fry Hardesty. He married Becky Cobstill on March 20, 1990, in Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are his three sons, Nicolas Cobstill, Austell, Ga.; Brandon (Rondy) Hardesty, Waynesville; and Cory Hardesty, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; three sisters, Diane Wolf, El Paso; Cathy (Jeff) Whitesell, LeRoy; and Kelly (Brad) Peiffer, Bloomington; and two grandchildren.
Scot was preceded in death by his parents.
Scot was an avid sports fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He also loved auto racing at all levels. He served in the U.S. Air Force and loved to travel.
