EUREKA — Selma Suzanna Voorhees, 91, Eureka, formerly of Danvers, passed away at 10:12 p.m. Thursday (April 25, 2013) at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka where she was a resident.
She was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Danvers, a daughter of Anton and Marie Thomas Dirks. She married Louis M. Voorhees on July 29, 1944, in Conway, S.C. He passed away July 30, 2004.
Survivors include three children, Connie (Larry) Goldberg, Buffalo Grove; Anna (Randall) Lundgren, Gainesville, Fla.; and Eldon Voorhees, Eureka; one brother, Thomas Dirks, Bloomington; one sister, Edna Marie Thompson, Colfax; one sister-in-law, Mary Voorhees, Indiana; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Delmar and Raymond Voorhees; and one grandson, Philip Hunter.
Selma had been employed at Eureka Hospital and the Woodford County Historical Society. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Woodford County Home Bureau and the Woodford County Historical Society.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Eureka. The Rev. Joe Burns will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Eureka. Burial will be in Olio Township Cemetery, Eureka.
