HEYWORTH — Thelma Marie Van Winkle, 84, Heyworth, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 24, 2012) at Heartland Health Care, Normal.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Heyworth. The Rev. Richard Gray will officiate. Burial will be in Heyworth Cemetery, Heyworth. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Heyworth Library.
Mrs. Van Winkle was born Feb. 23, 1927, in DeWitt, daughter of John F. and Nora B. Reynolds Lee. She married George C. Van Winkle on Dec. 31, 1946, in Clinton. He passed away Nov. 1, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Franklin (Glenda) Van Winkle, LeRoy, and their children, Kim, Mark, Stephanie, Scott and Will; George T. (Becky) Van Winkle, Heyworth, and their children, Ryan, Jacob and Abi; one daughter, Nancy (Mark) Lambert, Normal, and their children, Kenzie and Drew; one great-grandchild, Trey Van Winkle; and two sisters, Helen (Dean) Kinsell, Normal, and Ella (Gene) Ferguson, Heyworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Patricia Van Winkle; one granddaughter, Olivia Van Winkle; two brothers; and five sisters.
Thelma did seasonal work at Funk Seed Co. in Bloomington. She was a member of United Church of Heyworth; Carl E. Miller American Legion Auxiliary Unit 624, Heyworth; John H. Kraus VFW Auxiliary 454, Bloomington; and the Heyworth Golden Agers.
Thelma will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and a caregiver to many, young and old.
