Tilfred R. Eades, 79, of Lexington, died 10:30 a.m. Dec. 6, 2017, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
Cremation rites were accorded. Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, El Paso, with a memorial service to follow with the Rev. Jason Collins officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Hudson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Gridley Emergency Medical Service or Gridley Fire Department.
Tilfred was born Aug. 11, 1938, in Bloomington, the son of Ralph and Isabelle Geiger Eades. He married Barbara L. Harrison on June 27, 1959, and she died May 10, 2016.
Surviving are four children, Joe (Laurel) Eades, Clinton; Diane (Tim) Overholser, Colfax; Beth Eades, Bloomington; and Todd (Carol Etchison) Eades, Hudson; one sister, Ilene Williams, Clinton; three half sisters, Loretta, Patricia and Marsha; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Tifred worked for Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 24 years and then as a lead mechanic for Nestle Beich in Bloomington, retiring after 25 years. He owned and operated Fin & Feather pet shop and Companion Cockers with his wife Barb. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter.
