FAIRBURY - Vera Ferguson, 91, of Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Eureka, formerly of Fairbury, died at 6:42 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 29, 2005) at Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Eureka.
She was born Jan. 2, 1914, in Cabery, to Daniel and Alice Hughes Neth. She was a graduate of Fairbury Township High School, class of 1932. She worked as a secretary at Honegger Mill, Fairbury. She married Alpha Ferguson on June 25, 1933, in Fairbury. He died Aug. 8, 1990.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Gary) Elliott, Cropsey, and Lois Kay (Ron) Litterst, Peoria; seven grandchildren, Teri Lynn (Mike) Burke, Mark (Jeanne) Elliott, Matthew (Libby) Elliott, Tim (Lori) Elliott, Bradley Lindner, Andrew Lindner and Julie (Jeff) Darko; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one grandchild.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fairbury, Sunbeam Club, Garden Club and Rebekah Lodge. She had been organist at First Christian Church in Fairbury.
Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, with the Rev. Doug Hicks officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury, or Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Eureka.
Vera was a wonderful mother, wife and grandmother. She loved and cared for others by sharing her homegrown roses and her gift of music.
