EL PASO — Vernon Agnew, 92, of El Paso, formerly of Wenona, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Sunday (April 16, 2017) at Heritage Health, El Paso.
His funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, El Paso, with Father John Steffen officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, El Paso. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso, is handling arrangements.
He was born May 28, 1924, in Panola Township, a son of Clarence and Edna Hall Agnew. He married Doris Salz in 1949 in Wenona. She preceded him in death in 2015.
Surviving are his son, Gene (Joann) Agnew, Towanda; daughter, Debbie Brennan, Pontiac; grandchildren, Billy Brennan, Pontiac; Nick (Shelly) Agnew, Goodfield; Bryn Agnew, Towanda; and Jenna Agnew, Towanda; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Jane Augstine.
Vern worked for Hart Carter in Gridley for several years and was also a farmer. He belonged to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion for more than 70 years.
