NORMAL - Vincent F. Krolak, 93, of Illinois Veterans Home, LaSalle, formerly of 218 W. Dakota St., Spring Valley, father and grandfather of area residents, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2005) at Illinois Veterans Home.

His funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, with an American Legion service at 10 a.m. The Rev. Thomas Badovsky will officiate. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.

He was born Dec. 19, 1911, at Peru, to Frank and Mary Anna Greszak Krolak. He married Esther Sobin Aug. 17, 1940, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Spring Valley. She died Oct. 17, 1992.

Surviving are a son, James (Sue) Krolak, Spring Valley; two daughters, Lynn (Bob) Johnston, Normal, and Ann (Mike) Lach Lenexa, Kan.; sister, Lillian (Freeman) Kirzeder, Wheeling; eight grandchildren, including Suzanne (Rudy) Ordonez of Bloomington and Karen (David) Romine of Normal; and 10 great-grandchildren.

His parents, wife, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He worked at Westclox in Peru for 44 years, retiring in 1972. He was a former member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Spring Valley; member of the Spring Valley American Legion; and Westclox Quarter Century Club. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater.
