BLOOMINGTON - Viola L. Jones, 93, Bloomington, died at 5:08 p.m. Friday (Oct. 23, 2009) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
A private family graveside service will be Friday at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Pastor Thomas Wirsing will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church TV Ministry.
She was born March 23, 1916, in Winslow, daughter of Emil and Marie Hintz Kant. She married Arthur D. Jones on June 6, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. Arthur passed away Dec. 28, 1977.
She is survived by her son, A. David (Susan) Jones, Mountain View, Calif.; daughter, DeeAnn (Ted) Carlock, Bloomington; three grandchildren, Jason (Melody) Carlock, Bloomington; Jennifer (Chris) Moore, Hollister, Calif.; Jessica (David) Dennis, Bloomington; seven great-grandchildren, Connor, Peyton and Leah Carlock; Maya Moore; Andrew, Austin and Ashley Dennis; sister, Lois Eberle, Monroe, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Orville Kant; and one sister, Dorothy Baker.
Viola was a 50-plus-year member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She grew up in Jo Daviess County and was a graduate of Warren High School. She was also a graduate of Summers School of Beauty Culture. She owned and operated the Beauty Nook for 50 years in Bloomington, retiring at the age of 85.
