BLOOMINGTON — W. Jean Coan, 73, Bloomington, died at 8:50 a.m. Sunday (June 18, 2006) at Asta Care Center, Bloomington.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with Dr. David Gaffron officiating. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.

She was born Jan. 24, 1933, at Wichita, Kan., a daughter of Ray and Edna Loffland Deakins. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert D. Coan. He died in 2004.
Surviving are one sister, Joyce Gerlach, Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, Larry (Brenda) Deakins, McKinney, Texas, and Darrel (Dee) Deakins, Nampa, Idaho; brothers-in-law, Frank (Shirley) Coan and Jim (Joan) Coan, both of Bloomington; and sister-in-law, Dottie (Ted) Brickey, Bloomington. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her parents and one sister, Marilyn Deakins Carson, preceded her in death.
Jean was a longtime resident of Bloomington and was a member of the Bloomington VFW Women's Auxiliary. She was an avid Cubs fan and retired from Owen/Clark Oil Co. She traveled extensively, especially to Japan. Jean and Robert Coan went to Lucca Grill and VFW Club to dine and socialize for many years.
Jean will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank friends, family and caregivers who have showed comfort and support during Jean's illness.
