MINIER - Wilbur H. Hallstein, 93, a Normal resident for the past 20 years, formerly of rural Minier, died at 2:47 p.m. Friday (Dec. 23, 2005) at Hopedale Hospital in Hopedale.
Born June 17, 1912, in Minier the son of Philip and Clara Eisenberger Hallstein, he married Janice Norman on April 2, 1938, in Minier. She died Jan. 21, 2003.
Surviving are three sons, Roger (Barbara) Hallstein, Euless, Texas; Howard (Marla) Hallstein, Normal; and James (Nancy) Hallstein, Minier; seven grandchildren, Rebecca and Patrick Hallstein, Euless, Texas; Bradley Hallstein, Normal; Sarah, Michael, Thomas, and Renee Hallstein, all of Minier; one great-grandchild, Erin Addy, Grapevine, Texas; and one brother, Melvin (and Verna) Hallstein, Minier.
Mr. Hallstein farmed in the Minier and Hopedale area his entire life and raised registered Angus cattle.
He was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Minier; a member of Tazewell County Farm Bureau, where he was a former board member; and a former member of the Hopedale school board.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's United Church of Christ in Minier with the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Minier Cemetery. Davis Mortuary, Hopedale Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
