TREMONT - Wilfred "Will" P. Speers, 78, rural Tremont, died at 4 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 5, 2006) at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Dec. 7, 1927, in Cooksville, McLean County, a son of Plummer and Irene Houseman Speers, he married Marilyn M. Brown on Oct. 15, 1950, in Meadville, Mo., and she died Nov. 18, 1997. He later married Betty Taylor West on Jan. 19, 1999, in Bonita Springs, Fla., and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Doug Speers, Tremont; three daughters, Sandy (Jeff) Lancaster, Minier; Karen (Larry) McNair, Tremont; and Jan Malcom, Minier; his pet poodle, Daisy; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
He farmed in the Tremont area for many years and did carpentry work for a short time. He was a semi truck driver for 30 years retiring from Horton Trucking in Tremont in 2001.
He was a member of Judah International Ministries in rural Mackinaw, where his funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Mark DuBois will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the church. Burial will be in Minier Cemetery in Minier. Davis Mortuary Tremont Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
