William Stephen ‘Bill’ Kilmartin, 78, of Bloomington, lost his battle with cancer Dec. 10, 2017, at his home.
His memorial Mass will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Historic St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bloomington, with Father Jeffrey Stirniman officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home, Bloomington, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bill was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Bloomington, a son to Edward and Helen Bahan Kilmartin. He married Beverly Roach on June 16, 1962, in Bloomington.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly Kilmartin, Bloomington; children, Tina (Mike) Weis, Bloomington; Michael Kilmartin, New York City, N.Y.; and Meaghan (Mike) Wolfe, Fort Wayne, Ind.; four grandchildren, Luciana Weis, Ian Weis, Emma Wolfe and Joshua Wolfe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Edward, Rosemary, John and Sherrilyn.
He graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1957, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Bill was assigned to the Panama Canal Zone after completing Radio School, where he served until discharge in October 1960.
Bill worked at Nicor from 1960 to 2000, when he retired as a utility inspector. He enjoyed working with his hands and any project he completed was meticulous. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 574. He was an avid sports fan and loved to watch Notre Dame and Green Bay Packer football.
