CLINTON - William E. West, 87, of Clinton, died at 8:10 p.m. Monday (Dec. 26, 2005) at his family residence in Clinton.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, with full military honors. There will be no visitation. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Clinton, or St. John's Hospice.
He was born Jan. 26, 1918, at Harp Township, DeWitt County, the son of Clell and Eva May Polen West. He married Twila Long on April 9, 1939, at Parke County, Ind. She passed away Oct. 5, 1990.
Survivors include his children, Patricia Buchanan, Decatur; Donald West, Clinton; Dorothy Rhodes, Clinton; William West Jr., Naperville; Lawrence West, Clinton; John West, Clinton; Robert West, Clinton; and Mildred Lucas, Clinton; three sisters, Carol Griffith, Clinton; Norma Smallwood, Clinton; and Evelyn Joss, Clinton; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Emily Evans.
He was a member of Prairie Center Methodist Church.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a prisoner of war.
He was a retired auto mechanic and parts man for Finfrock Motors and Napa at Clinton.
