DWIGHT - William VanHorn, 69, Dwight, passed away at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2007) at his residence of natural causes.
His funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight, with Pastor Pam Morton officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
William was born April 17, 1938, in Morning Sun, Iowa, son of Floyd W. and Wilma O. Lake VanHorn. He married Grace Yvonne Skutt on Oct. 17, 1981, in Havana. She preceded him in death Nov. 11, 2007.
He is survived by stepdaughters, Michelle Shaw, Gilman, Wis., and Anna Grgurich, Manteno; one stepson, William B. Shaw , Clintonville, Wis.; one brother, Richard (Betty) VanHorn, Madrid, Iowa; nieces, Marie Wargo, Rock Falls, and Barbara (Terry) Schaefer, Phoenix, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren, Christina Martino; Elizabeth, Barbara, Karen, Jo-;and Joseph Grgurich; and Zacharia Shaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and grandson, Bryan Lee Martino
He was-;owner and operator of Dwight Cab Co. and previously drove for the Blue Island Cab Co. for 20 years.
He liked to play gin rummy, scratch tickets, watch old westerns on TV and read factual and history books.
