NORMAL — A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Veterans Parkway at Fort Jesse Road, Normal police said Wednesday night.
The McLean County Coroner's office was called to the scene and continues to work with the Normal Police Department on the investigation. The name of the pedestrian will not be released until family members are notified, police said.
This is the second vehicle-pedestrian fatality on Veterans Parkway in the past six weeks. On Sept. 26, Reginald Hubbert, 18, was struck by an SUV just north of the intersection of Veterans and Empire Street in Bloomington. Hubbert died from his injuries several days later.
An accident reconstruction team remained on the Veterans-Fort Jesse scene Wednesday night and Veterans Parkway remained closed between Fort Jesse Road and Sheppard Road as of midnight.
A pedestrian injured in a Thursday night crash on Veterans Parkway in Bloomington has died. Reginald L. Hubbert, 18, was taken off life support, said McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder.
