PONTIAC -- A portion of Pontiac Correctional Center continued to be on lockdown Tuesday following last week's discovery of a threatening letter.
Illinois Department of Corrections Spokeswoman Januari Smith could not go into details about the letter. A portion of the facility, affecting about 430 maximum-security inmates, has been on lockdown since Thursday and it continued Tuesday while IDOC investigates the incident.
The portion is on a level 1 lockdown, which means there is no movement among inmates as they are restricted to their cells.
