NORMAL — Traffic charges are pending against a man who drove erratically through the Illinois State University quad Friday morning.

No one was injured. The Normal man, 26, is being evaluated at a local hospital. The Pantagraph does not name suspects until they are formally charged in court.

ISU Police Chief Aaron Woodruff said police received a report of a vehicle traveling on sidewalks around the quad around 10 a.m. Friday.

Reckless driving charges are pending.

Woodfruff said the man drove on sidewalks for two or three blocks through the quad, entering at the south end and exiting near Moulton Hall. There was no damage.

"It didn't appear he had any intent to harm or threaten anybody. He was just driving erratically," said Woodruff. "We don't have any reason to believe he was impaired under any substances, alcohol or drugs."

Normal police stopped the vehicle, later calling for medical personnel and transporting him to the hospital.
