TOWANDA — Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 early Sunday evening.

In a crash report released Monday afternoon, the Illinois State Police reported Tanner Kennedy, 21, of Silvis was driving a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon north on Interstate 55 about 5:50 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control, crossed the center median and was struck by a 2007 Honda Odyssey driven by Barbara Hunter, 43, of Normal.

Kennedy was airlifted to an Urbana hospital, but a condition status was not available Monday.

Hunter and two passengers in her vehicle, Marie F. O'Brien, 85, of Des Plaines and a 5-year-old juvenile from Normal, were transported by ambulance to Bloomington-Normal hospitals, but their conditions were not disclosed.

Kennedy was issued tickets charging him with improper lane usage, driving too fast for conditions and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

The crash was in the southbound lanes between Towanda and Lexington. The crash caused delays for about three hours.
