PONTIAC – Illinois State Police Captain Suzanne Jansky, who commands District 6 in Pontiac, has retired.
She was the longest-serving female captain with the agency, working 27 years.
Jansky was assigned to District 6 in 1999 and was the first woman promoted to captain. District 6 includes Pontiac and the counties of DeWitt, Livingston and McLean.
Her agency achievements include longest-serving commander and longest-serving tenured district commander in the state.
“I am both grateful and fortunate to retire healthy, positive and exceedingly proud of District 6 and the ISP,” she said in a statement issued by the agency. “There is no doubt these are challenging times, but on a daily basis there continues to be amazing accomplishments made for the greater good.”
