BLOOMINGTON — Five Central Illinois veterans will be recognized Thursday during an annual fundraiser for the Great Plains LIFE Foundation.
Twenty Stars for LIFE is Thursday at Lafayette Banquet Hall, Bloomington. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the recognition ceremony will begin at 8 p.m. Col. Craig Holan, commander of the Illinois Army National Guard’s 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, will assist with the presentation.
Soldiers to be honored are U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Christopher Grant, U.S. Army Specialist Robert Kearney, U.S. Air National Guard Senior Airman Alex Smith, U.S. Navy Lt. Comm. Paul Smith, and U.S. Army Capt. Cedric Williams.
After the recognition ceremony, the Galaxy of Stars will be introduced for their efforts on behalf of the Stay 4 Project, a local initiative designed to address high school dropouts and help low-income students find success.
Tickets are $35 and available at the door. Admission includes an hors d’oeuvres buffet, beverages, dancing, and a chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas.
