ARMINGTON - A Logan County man was arrested Monday night after his wife reported he threatened her with a handgun and held her down and choked her, the county sheriff said.
Logan County Sheriff Steve Nichols said the incident began Monday evening in the 1200 block of 2750th Street, which is south of Armington near the border for Tazewell County.
The sheriff said the woman, Nancy Gordon, left the house when police responded to her 911 call, but her husband, Harold Gordon, refused to come out of the home for 60 to 90 minutes after police arrived.
Nichols said he arrived and was able to convince Harold Gordon to talk to him outside the home, and Gordon was not armed. Nichols said after about 15 minutes of conversation he was able to get up to the porch, grab Harold Gordon and arrest him.
Nichols said paramedics examined Gordon's wife, and she declined treatment. He said Harold Gordon was jailed Wednesday on charges of aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault, armed violence and domestic battery.
Jail officials declined to give Gordon's bond amount or confirm what charges he was held on Wednesday evening.
