EDWARDSVILLE - A Metro East man is jailed on $300,000 bond after being accused of beating and raping a 21-year-old woman in a state park.

Madison County prosecutors on Tuesday charged 30-year-old Keith Recklein of rural Granite City with aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated battery.

Authorities say Recklein attacked the O'Fallon woman in Horseshoe Lake State Park near Pontoon Beach on May 1st.

The victim suffered severe head trauma and says she really doesn't remember anything. She says she's relieved that there's been an arrest and considers that "totally awesome."

Recklein doesn't have a listed telephone number. A Collinsville uncle of his says he's unaware whether his nephew had an attorney.
