SPRINGFIELD — A 36-year-old Normal man has been charged with having crack cocaine, according to statement from the U.S. attorney's office for the Central District of Illinois.
A grand jury Thursday indicted Michael C. Billups, of the 1800 block of Jacobssen Drive, Normal, on a charge of possession of 50 or more grams of crack cocaine Nov. 17. He was released on bond pending trial.
The charge was a result of Champaign police officer assigned to a Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force.
If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five to 40 years of imprisonment.
