On Friday night, shortly after 5 p.m., I received the call from my 16-year-old son that no parent wants to get: “Mom, we've been in an accident.”When I arrived on the scene of the single-car accident and saw the overturned vehicle, my blood ran cold, and not from the weather.
My son and 14-year-old daughter came running toward me from the vehicle of the Good Samaritan who stopped to help them, slipping and sliding on the sheet of ice formerly known as the road.
Miraculously unharmed, except for my daughter's slight concussion, we waited in my vehicle for the emergency personnel to arrive.
My family would like to thank each and every one of them who came to our aid.
It was bitterly cold Friday night and I thought, how often are these men and women out taking care of our community under such trying circumstances and how rarely do we take the time to thank them! So thank you to all of you.
Thanks also to everyone at BroMenn's emergency room and to all the Good Samaritans who helped out.
