After watching News 31 Wednesday evening (May 11), I have some comments as to the future of the former Slick Ricks Motor City Saloon.
The clip aired was only a small portion of my interview given, which did include concerns. As a neighbor living directly behind the property — myself for 41 years — we are trying to change the atmosphere that we have been accustomed to for many years.
Very few of us attended the Liquor Commission meeting on May 10 at City Hall. That meeting was meant for neighbors to voice concerns pertaining to a future liquor business opening at that property. I did voice my concerns, including unkempt property, loud music and excessive traffic/parking. I also took the opportunity Wednesday to help with starting the outside cleanup, since it is such an eyesore out my front door.
Many of our complaints in the past have gone unresolved and I feel that, before this establishment is allowed to open as a bar, the things previously mentioned need to be addressed.
