Bloomington shouldn't take water from aquifer

As a resident of rural Hudson, I am once again amazed at the audacity of the city of Bloomington. Who put them in charge of the entire county?

The city has once again avoided long-term solutions to their problems - this one being the need for water that is not heavy with nitrates. Instead of doing what is right for the community and looking at obvious solutions such as nitrate reduction plants, continued watershed management and, most importantly, sustainable growth, they have decided to throw their weight around and steal water from the northern county aquifer.

This aquifer is not only the sole source of water for hundreds of families in rural McLean County, but this potential drilling could affect the agrarian needs in the county and the beautiful Mackinaw River and other ground water areas.

Mayor Stockton, Bloomington City Council members and Craig Cummins (city water director) should consider some better options that don't harm others. Don't be the bully on the block. Stop the drilling!
