This year’s National Nursing Home Week begins on Mother’s Day. It is a special week for nursing home residents and their families to celebrate nursing facility life with facility staff and volunteers.

This year’s theme of “Fulfilling the Promise” provides us all with a terrific reminder. National Nursing Home Week is a perfect time to visit your loved ones, friends and neighbors at facilities across the region.

When was the last time you took time to reach out and let someone very special know that you are thinking about them? If you are unable to visit, why not make a phone call, send a card, flowers or even an email? You’ll be glad you did when your special attention makes someone’s day.

At Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center we will be hosting a special events designed to enrich the relationships, and celebrate the ties, between residents, youth, community members and families with staff. Many events are open to the public. If you are not a regular visitor you might find the brochure, “Tips on visiting Friends and Relatives,” helpful. It covers such things as planning for the visit, visits outside the facility and who should visit.

This brochure is available free by calling 1-800-628-8140 or at www.LongTermCareLiving.com .
