I do not understand why the government cannot find a way to balance its budget. The government should be required to balance its budget in a timely manner, and withhold going into debt outside of necessary wartime deficits.
Why should the government be treated any different than the American citizens? Debt is not something the federal or state governments should be willing to accept, it is enslaving and evidence of poor fiscal responsibility.
As Ben Franklin once said, “Think what you do when you run in debt, you give to another power over your liberty.”
I do not intend on giving up my liberty anytime soon, and if our legislators were wise, I don’t believe they would sacrifice the liberty of this country either.
