Judy Baar Topinka promises to "turn on the lights" as governor!

She notes that the Governor's Mansion in Springfield and the governor's office at the Capitol lie vacant and dark. She asserts that upon her inauguration, she will move into the governor's residence, occupy the Capitol office and "turn on the lights!"

Ms. Topinka has assured Illinoisans that the mansion will be lit up with Christmas lights; and she has invited all to come visit!

Judy Baar Topinka will also "turn on the lights" when awarding state contracts. She will reject any proposals offering campaign contributions for state contracts. She promises to obtain the best value for the taxpayer dollar by bidding each contract openly and publicly - for those contracts requiring open bids under law.

I take Ms. Topinka at her word on that promise!
