My sincere thanks to CJ's Restaurant and the McLean County Sheriff's Department.
I was recently visiting my mother and family in Bloomington from Syracuse, N.Y. My mom, Verda Boyd; cousin, Judy Goodsell; and I were doing our usual visit to CJ's for lunch before I flew out that evening.
My mom, almost 81 years old, had a knee replacement about two months ago and was using a walker to get around. She is also a diabetic.
When she got out of the car in front of CJ's she took about three steps and said, "I don't feel so good." She started to collapse. I screamed, "Somebody help me!"
CJ came running out along with one of his waitresses - I'm sorry I didn't get her name. They managed to help her back into the car.
Then the McLean County sheriff's deputies came and took over. They were wonderful! They got Mom to lie down across the front seat. One got in the driver's side and supported Mom's head as he talked to her. Another held her feet up, as they were not in the car, while another called the ambulance for us.
The deputies helped the paramedics put her on the stretcher and assured me she had one of the best rescue crews taking care of her. My mother's blood sugar was 38! If it wasn't for the McLean County Sheriff's Department and their fast action, I don't know if she would have made it.
You are very fortunate to have a great force in your midst. Thanks again to everyone for your help and bless you all!
