Lame ducks shouldn’t vote on tax hikes

This really takes the cake! Right when I thought nothing our government could do would surprise me, this tax increase happens.

I really find it hard to believe that anyone who was elected by the people could say, “I am going to pass this tax hike because I’m going out anyway and don’t care about who it hurts.” This type of legislation should never even be considered in a lame-duck session in the first place. This should let everyone know who our officials are really looking out for.

The same mentality was used when George Ryan overturned the death sentences of all the inmates on death row at the end of his term. We just sat back and let that happen, too.

I think it is time to see if the people still have a say in what goes on in government. If we don’t, I fear we are going to be in more trouble than we ever thought possible.
