McLean County sheriff
I am in my 28th year of service with the McLean County Sheriff's Department, and I have experienced seven prior sheriff's races. The upcoming sheriff's race is one of the most important, in my opinion.
Lt. Michael Essig will bring to the office of sheriff, a wealth of experience gained by serving the department in numerous capacities over the past 23 years. He has been a correctional officer in the detention facility, a deputy sheriff working the roads of McLean County, and as a criminal investigator who successfully investigated hundreds of cases from simple thefts to complex homicides. Mike's supervisory experience comes from serving as patrol sergeant and currently, in his position as patrol lieutenant.
Mike Essig has earned loyalty, admiration, support and most importantly, trust, from those he has worked with over the years. In following Sheriff Owens' lead, Mike Essig does, and will continue to, work side by side with his fellow deputies. He will continue to stay in touch with the citizens of McLean County, and will facilitate a smooth transition into the leadership position in the Sheriff's Department.
Mike Essig will be a working seriff, and it is my pleasure to support him. I hope that you will join me.
