I continue to be amazed at the self-serving arguments put forth by people in favor of preventing a smoking ban for Bloomington-Normal. Most of these complaints use a tortured logic to somehow come to the conclusion that their freedoms are being stepped upon. I've worked in the service industry for nearly seven years and I can assure you that the people who have any right to complain are the ones having to endure the poisonous fumes from that wretched habit.
Rife with cancer-causing carcinogens, cigarette smoke in an enclosed space can only be considered a health hazard. Since when is it someone's right to cause harm to another person? We as a society have smartly shunned the habit of smoking and have made it increasingly difficult for smokers to indirectly harm others through their indifference and/or inconsideration. Your only freedom as a smoker is the freedom to hurt yourself if you really must, leave the rest of us out of it!
